As someone who leads a lifestyle of intense levels of exercise, I am careful to advocate rest days to ensure energy recuperation, decreased risk of injury and to maintain good levels of motivation. After an intense return to Lowestoft Boxing Club, the aching muscles in my body were telling me a rest day was due. Yesterday, my family and I enjoyed a long walk around Thornham Walks – which consisted of not only a relaxing footpath through the woodlands, but a fantastic display of life-size wooden carved sculptures including a lion which our two-year-old daughter, Dakota, particularly enjoyed.
Always remember to enjoy a rest day and think of it as a chance for your body to catch up with repairing those worn muscle fibres rather than as a hindrance.
